Interview: Background and Approach

Who I am and what makes me tick.

What prompted you to start a career in marketing contract compliance?

I think Financial Progression is a really unique firm focusing on a niche industry that is constantly evolving. I realised that there wouldn’t be many graduate opportunities within audit that worked exclusively with marketing brands and media agencies, so I wanted to take that first step in my career and start within an industry that is dynamic and increasingly prevalent in our everyday lives.

How has your previous experience helped you at Financial Progression?

As a Computer Science graduate, I have been able to hone my technical and analytical skills which I feel will be well utilised as part of my work at Financial Progression. My previous internship at one of the big 4 has provided me with the experience of working with international clients which I am confident will help support me in my role here. I have also worked as part of my university’s Student Enquiry team which allowed me to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and age groups. I really enjoyed the role and it helped me to develop my communication skills, an ability I feel will be valuable when working with FP’s clients!

Which part of your work gives you the greatest sense of achievement?

I think the greatest sense of achievement for me is visibly seeing the impact my work has made.  Whether that’s a smile or a positive remark, I love when I can see a tangible reaction from those I am trying to help!

How would people describe you?

I would say people would describe me as level-headed and friendly. I like to make a positive impression and build relationships. I would like to think that I stay calm under pressure but my family might say otherwise!

What motivates you to do what you do?

I really enjoy learning new things. I am curious about a variety of different topics and I think that inquisitive mindset of wanting to know more keeps me going. I have also self-studied for some accounting exams and I think the curiosity of applying those concepts to real life clients is especially motivating for me. I am excited to see how the theoretical concepts I have learnt translate to real life clients!

What can you be found doing when you’re not at work?

I love baking! I am always the go to cakemaker for my family’s celebrations. I also really enjoy visiting cafes with friends and cosying up with a good thriller book on the weekends.
